Hanuman Garhi is a temple dedicated to Lord Hanuman, known for its significant belief and custom that one must first visit and worship Lord Hanuman before Lord Rama. Lord Hanuman, considered an ardent devotee of Lord Rama, is worshipped here. The temple has been a site of worship since the 10th century, although its construction occurred later. Despite facing threats of demolition, the temple has stood firm, believed to be protected by the blessings of Lord Rama. It is said that Lord Hanuman resided in this place, originally a cave, to protect Ramkot, the birthplace of Lord Rama. Hanuman Garhi is situated just 1 km away from Ram Janmabhoomi.

Hanuman Garhi not only holds religious significance but is also architecturally captivating. Pay homage to Lord Hanuman by climbing 76 steps to seek his blessings.

  • One can visit this temple at any hour of the year.
  • If you are in Ayodhya during Ram Navami and Hanuman Jayanti, then do not miss visiting the temple and worshipping the lord. On these two occasions, one should not miss being a part of the religious and cultural atmosphere of this temple.
  • Photography is prohibited within the temple complex.
  • The devotees can easily find prasad made of desi ghee from the vendors outside the temple complex.
